7 Remanded for allegedly being members of unlawful society in Kano

Kano State Senior Magistrate Court, presided over by Ibrahim Mansur Yola, has ordered the remand of 7 individuals accused of being members of an unlawful society and  engaging in criminal activities.

The defendants include Saifullahi Aliyu, Idris Yahaya, Khalifa Garba, Mustapha Tijjani, Abba Mansur, Ahmad Yaya, Walid Abbas, and Kabir Ibrahim.

Justice Watch News, gathered that they are residents of various addresses in Dala LGA, Kano Metropolis.

The Police Prosecutor, ASP D. Umar Abdullahi told the court that the arrests were made on December 27th, 2023, upon the order of the Kano State Commissioner of Police during a security tour.

He further said following numerous complaints from residents, the defendants were taken into custody.

During their appearance in court, all defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The defense counsel requested bail, assuring that the defendants would not abscond, interfere with police investigations, and would secure reliable sureties.

However, the prosecution objected to the bail application.

Consequently, the Senior Magistrate, Ibrahim Mansur Yola, ordered the remand of all defendants in the Correctional Centre.

The court adjourned until January 18th for a ruling on the bail application.
