22 Defendants Who Allegedly Forged KAROTA’s Reciepts, Remanded

One Aminu Salisu, Kamilu Yusuf, Baba Jibril and 22 other accomplices, who were allegedly arrested in possession of forged documents beginning to KAROTA have been remanded in Correctional Centre.

Arraigning the Defendants before Kano Chief Magistrate court, presided over by Halima Wali, on three count charge, Barrister Tijjani Ibrahim told the court that the defendants allegedly committed the offence on 22nd July, 2023.

He said the offence contravened section 97, 393 321 and Penal Code.

When the content of First Information Reports, (FIR) were read over to them, they pleaded not guilty.

Consquently, counsel to the defendants, Barrister Nazifi Rabiu, prayed the court to admit the defendants on bail, pursuant to section 35, (6), 36 (5) of the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, 171, (3) of the Adminstration of Criminal Justice Law, Kano State 2019.

The presiding magistrate, Wali adjourned the sitting to July 27 for ruling on the bail application by the counsel to defendants.
