The Federal High Court Sitting in Abuja has declared the activities of Yan Bindiga, Yan Ta’ adda groups and any other similar group in any part of Nigeria, especially in the North-West and
North-Central Regions of Nigeria as acts of terrorism and illegality.
The court made the declaration upon reading the affidavit in support of amended motion ex-parte deposed to by one Noma Ganau a litigation officer attached to the department of public prosecution, Federal Ministry of Justice and filled at the court registry, Abuja.
The Court has similarly made the declaration upon hearing Barrister A.K Aliyu, Counsel to the Applicant in the suit.
The court has also made the order proscribing the Yan Bindiga and Yan Ta’adda Groups other similar group in any part of Nigeria, especially in the North-West and North-Central Regions of Nigeria either in groups or as individuals by whatever names they are called and publishing same in the Official Gazette and two National Dailies.
The court also made an order proscribing any person or group of persons from participating in any manner whatsoever in any form of activities involving or concerning the prosecution of the collective intention or otherwise of the Yan Bindiga and Yan Ta’adda
Groups under any other name or platform however called or described.
” The order is hereby made against the groups stated in the application as 1st and 2nd Respondents and all other similar criminal groups operating in any part of Nigeria with a view to carrying out banditry, kidnappings for ransom, kidnapping for marriage, mass abduction of school children and other citizens, cattle rustling, enslavement, imprisonment, severe deprivation of physical liberty, torture, rape, sexual slavery, entorced prostitution, forced pregnancy, other forms of sexual violence, attacks and killings in communities and other commuters and wanton destruction of lives and properties in Nigeria.”
In a suit no: FHC/ABJ/SC/1370/2021 instituted by Federal Government of Nigeria has Yan Bindiga and Yan Ta,adda Groups as First and Second Respondents respectively.
