Alleged Armed Robbery: Court Adjourns for Further Mention


A Kano State Chief Magistrate Court, presided by Mustapha sa,ad Datti has ordered the remand of 26-year-old man, Mahmoud Ibrahim, at the Correctional centre in Kano, over alleged armed robbery.

The defendant, who lives at Kurna Asabe Quarters Kano, is facing a count charge of armed robbery.

According to the First Information Report FIR the defendant alleged to had committed the offence on July 4,2021 at Akwa Quarters Kano.

” that on the same date at about 3:00 a.m the defendant armed himself with a pump action rifle gun, sharp knife, torchlight and trespassed into the house of one Nafisa Audu and Garba Audu situated at Akwa Quarters,”

“The defendant attacked and robbed the the two victms of their handsets, laptops, gold jewelry and cash sum of money in total the sum of N3.8 million”

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The offence contravened Section 1(1) (a) (b) and 3(1) of the Robbery and Firearms(Special provisions) Act Cap RIL LFN 2004(As Amended).

The Prosecutor prayed the court to remand the defendant in Correctional Centre, pending legal advice from the office of Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The Chief Magistrate, Mustapha Sa’ad-Datti, ordered that the defendant be remanded in a Correctional Centre, pending the issuance of legal advice as prayed

He adjourned the case to 28th December, 2021 for further mention.
