NAPTIP Boss Urges Journalists to Expose High Profile Traffickers


The Director General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Dr Fatima Waziri – Azi, has tasked the Media Community in Nigeria on the need to give prominence to the reportage on issues of human trafficking and other forms of Gender Based violence.

She stated this in Keffi during the closing ceremony of a 3-day training for Trafficking in Persons Media Corps and Reporting Template of Human trafficking.

The NAPTIP boss who commended the media for its sustained collaboration and support to the fight against human trafficking, urged the media to do more by exposing the high profile traffickers so that they can be prosecuted.

The DG told the media partners to join hands with the Agency in the areas of increased sensitization, advocacy and information sharing on issues of human trafficking.

Highpoint of the event was the presentation of certificate of participation to the Journalists.

The training was also attended by Media desk of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Police Police and other partners.

The program was supported by the Action against Trafficking In Persons and Smuggling Of Migrants (funded by the European Union) and implemented by FIIAPP.
