Customs shot: Police Sues for Peace


The Katsina State Command of Nigeria Police has said that efforts were on top, with the view of finding the Identity of customs officers who were alleged to have stormed Fadi Gurje Village, Mani LGA of Katsina State and fired sporadic shots on air.

Confirming the incident to Justice Watch News, SP Gambo Isah, Katsina State Command’s Spokesman said he received an information that Nigerian Customs Service personnel inside a patrol vehicle alleged to have stormed Gurje Village and fired several shots into the air and
escaped to unknown destination.

He explained that following the the incident, one Auwal Sani, aged 35yrs of the same address was shot on the leg.

” Victim was rushed to Orthopedic Hospital, Katsina for treatment.
Efforts is on with the view of finding the identity of the erring officers and bring them to justice.”

The Spokesman maintained that the Commissioner of Police, Katsina State command has called for calm in the affected community and enjoined public to go about their lawful business noting that police are working closely with the Nigerian Customs Service’s leadership with a view to resolve the problem and bringing perpetrators to book.

When contacted Mr. Danbaba Isah, a Public Relations Officer, Nigerian Customs Service, Katsina State Command assured that investigation is currently ongoing to that effect.
