The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Sama’ila Shuaibu Dikko has described Journalists as catalyst for crime prevention and control.
CP Dikko made the assertion when he paid a courtesy visit to Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kano State Council’s Secretariat.
He noted that Journalists are critical stakeholders in ensuring that society remains peace.
” I visit you to commend you for your commitments and passion in promoting our activities. You have been with us from my first day in Kano.”
Dikko maintained that Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) is yielding a huge successes in Kano due to Journalists encouragement.
In his response, Comrade Abbas Ibrahim Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), stated his happiness over the visit.
” Information dissemination in crime prevention and control can never be over emphasize. We are aware of your commitments, particularly with the rising insecurity trend in our society.”
The Chairman expressed satisfaction with the CP’s performance in the state, noting that police have assisted in reducing the security challenges to the bearest minimum.
” Our role is to project good image to society and we fight fake news and hate speech which is on the rise.”
Comrade Abbas Ibrahim explained that he started his journalism carrier as Crime and Judicial Reporter over 3 decades ago, stressing that the media is always ready to highlight the activities of Police and other security agencies to promote political and socio- economic well being of the Public.
The Chairman added that police and security are partners in progress, saying they are working to achieve similar goals, that is working for the public.
