Man, 30, Arrested With 35kg of Marijuana in Jigawa

The operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Jigawa State Command have arrested one Kawu Musa popularly known as Suya aged 30, of Chadi Quarters, Hadejia LGA for alleged possession of substance suspected to be Marijuana.

The statement by CSC Adamu Shehu, the command’s Public Relations Officer maintained that the suspect was arrested at about 1700hrs on Friday, 16th July, 2021 along Kiyawa Road, near NNPC Mega Station Dutse following a tip off.

The statement noted that the suspect was arrested while conveying the neatly packaged psychotropic substance disguised as ice cream to Hadejia LGA to be sold during Sallah festivities.

” At the time of his arrest, he was in possession of 33 assorted blocks of neatly packaged Marijuana, categorized as:
Arizona (12 blocks)
Ordinary (12 blocks), SK (9 blocks).
Also recovered were N12,300 cash, a Qlink Motorcycle and a Tecno Android phone.”

It added that the suspect confessed to have purchased the illicit substance from one Alhaji Garba, who is now at large, after payment of N95,000 cash with a promise to pay the balance of N155,000 after selling the product.

According to shehu the retail value was put at about N900,000.

“Arrangements have been put in place to hand over the suspect along with the exhibits to the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and possible prosecution.

“Meanwhile, the State Commandant, Mustapha Talba (CC), commended the effort of the surveillance officers that supplied the Command with valuable information that led to the successful arrest of the drug peddler (Kawu Musa), and equally called on the general public to assist security agencies in the fight against crime and criminality in the State by giving timely information that will help in eliminating criminal activities in the State.”
