Alleged Rape: Man, 27, Regains Freedom In Kano


Kano state High Court Number 3 presided over by Justice Lawal Wada has discharged and acquitted one Abdulhamid Danbala popularly known as mai ganga in an  offence of alleged rape.

Earlier, Abdulhamid was arraigned before the court sometimes in 2015 for the offence of rape against a minor, contrary to section 283 of penal code.

Delivering the judgement, justice Lawan Wada upheld that the state counsel has failed to prove the evidence of rape against the defendant.

He therefore discharged and acquitted maiganga for lack of evidence.

Speaking to Justice Watch News, defense counsel, Barrister Auwal Abubakar Ringim from Legal Aid Counsel stated that their office took up the prosecution after realizing that defendant was languishing in correctional center without legal representation.
