NBA President Sheds Light on JUSUN’s Decision to Suspend Strike

The National President, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Olumide Akpata has said that Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has agreed to suspend the ongoing strike after receiving financial allocation due for the month of April 2021.

Acccording to the report, the President noted that following All Stakeholders reconciliation meeting held on Thursday 20th. May 2021, an action plan was agreed to by all the parties to the immediate implementation of financial autonomy of the Judiciary, particularly in the States.

He said part of the agreement also included that the state Governors’ shall commence shall implementation of Financial Autonomy by immediately remitting to the Judiciary in their respective states the allocation due for the month of April ‘ JUSUN will suspend the strike immediately upon receiving of the allocation

He further said part of the agreement was that a Fund Management Committee Law detailing the the modalities for the implementation of effective financial autonomous for the Judiciary will be enacted by all States of the Federation within 45 days from the date of agreeing the action plan.

The President said with cautious optimistic the Association anticipating that the strike action will be suspended in a few days and all Courts in the land will consquently be reopened.

Akpata also commended members of the NBA for their perseverance during the JUSUN strike action.

” I must also emphathized with members of the public who have had to bear the social and economic cost of the protracted strike action in one or the other”.

” I continue to solicit your patience and support, please be assured that my team and i will continue to follow up, on the stated commitments with all relevant stakeholders with a view to ensuring that the strike action is called off as proposed”. The President added.
