KADUNA CRISIS:TIMELY INTERVENTION FROM FG

Wonderful and timely is the Federal Government’s move to intervene in the industrial crisis that has engulfed Kaduna state since Monday.

The losses due to the crisis are better left to imagination, with every sector grinding to a halt. Adding insult to injury is the sack of nurses that are participating in the strike as a bargaining tool for those who have abruptly lost their means of living a decent life with their families.

We’ve Never Indulge in Uncivilized Practice, NLC Tells El- Rufa’i

The state government is further smoking hot by declaring the National President of Nigeria Labour Congress((NLC) Comrade Ayuba Wabba wanted via the governor’s official Twitter handle yet signalling that there will be no retreat, no surrender even as the labour leaders said they were ready for dialogue.

Where did Gov. Nasir El-Rufai derive that power to declare Wabba wanted? Femi Falana(SAN) has since said the governor does not have such powers vested in him.

NUPENG is already warning El-Rufai to tread softly on the mass sack of civil servants or else there will be total shut down of their operations in the state.

Bandits: Only Way to Stop Banditry kill them All – El- Rufa’i

It is gratifying that the Minister of Labour and Employment Senator Chris Ngige is wading into the trouble that is in the first self-inflicted because the wage bill is purportedly gulping 80 per cent of the government’s resources every month and political appointees should continue to milk the system for doing even less for the growth and development of the state.

Can Ngige get El-Rufai to see reason on this latest fracas with labour and broker a win-win settlement?

If the retrenched workers must leave, is the government giving them their entitlements within a reasonable time frame?

From all indications, government’s offer of employment to any one no longer has security of tenure in the state under El-Rufai but for Goodness sake, the affected workers should deserve a decent treatment so that they can manage the remaining part of their lives well rather than in tattered penury and frustration.
