The Ag. Inspector General of Police Usman Alkali Baba has described Journalists as integral component of every society, saying their role can never be under estimated.

IGP Alkali Baba made the assertion during this year’s Global Conference, conducted Virtually to Mark World Press Freedom Day 2021 .

IGP Alkali represented by Force Public Relations Officer, CP Frank Mba said there has been a relationship between civilian and police everywhere in the world.

He noted that the doors of Police are always open to allow Journalists have assess to information.

The IGP stressed the need for snergy with media to end the scourge of banditry, Kidnapping and other criminalities in Nigeria.

Also speaking, the President,Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Comrade Chris Isiguzo pointed out that Journalists in Nigeria were affected by covid-19 and are yet to recover from the pandemic urging Government and media proprietors to provide palliatives to Journalists to provide enabling environment to conduct their duty.

Isiguzo explained that Journalism is a noble profession, explaining that Journalists should not in anyway be harassed or molested in the course of their duties.

Also in his presentation, Professor Abiodun Adeniyi stated that communication goes beyond simple message.

He stressed the significance of Freedom of Information Act for Journalists in their work.

He emphasized that he has been an advocate for free flow of information.

The Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Abbas Ibrahim led members of the union to participate at the virtual meeting held at Kano American Corner.
