Corruption is Killing Nigerians – Ganduje

Kano State Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has said that corruption is killing Nigeria and the country will not attain development with the level of corruption gaining ground in low and high places

Governor Ganduje stated this during inauguration ceremony of Kano State Anti Corruption Strategy Steering Committee Members Thursday.

The Governor who was represented by the Kano State Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Usman Alhaji maintained that the committee is important in the fight against corruption across the State.

According to him, the committee has dual role in line with the mandate of the Commission.

” The committee can entertain complaints from the public and resolve them amicably and at the same time the committee can fight corruption with has becomes endemic in peoples’ mind”.

” The committee should open its doors for Public to be lodging their complaints”.

“The state Government has done a lot to ensure that the Commission came back to life”. Ganduje stated.

The Governor added that the Commission is purely independence assured that it conducted its activities without any interference.

” I know two Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries who lost their positions due to the action of this commission”

“This Commission has c performed creditably well”

Earlier, in his speech, the Chairman of Kano State Public Complaint and Anti Corruption Commission, also the Chairman of the Steering Committee, Barrister Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado said establishing Anti Corruption steering committee is part of the Government commitments towards ensuring accountability in governance.

Muhuyi said the aim of the committee is to make Kano corruption free society

” This Committee will later inaugurate Monitoring and Evaluation Team”

Rimin Gado also said the Monitoring and Evaluation Committee will include member each from Servicom, Special Duties, Finance and other key critical stakeholders not below Assistant Director in state civil Service.

” Monitoring and Evaluation Committee will also featured members of the Civil society Organisation, Media, Traditional Leaders among others” The Chairman said.
