Kano State House of Assembly has reiterated its stand toward ensuring speedy passage of Kano State Child Protection Bill 2021 for the betterment of the children in the state.
The Speaker, Kano State House of Assembly, Engineer Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari disclosed this during the closing ceremony of a three day retreat for the review of the Bill held in Kaduna.
Engineer Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari said considering the importance of the Bill to the overall development of the State, the House in collaboration with Donor agency ROLAC and UNICEF to hold the retreat were the bill was x-ray word by word and page by page to make it in accordance with the with the norms values and culture of the people in the state and as well reflected the position of Sharia Legal System on each and every section of the Child Protection Bill.
The Speaker assured the participants and the people of the State that the House would do everything possible to ensure the speedy passage of the Bill, pointing out that the incumbent administration placed high premium to child development hence it make Education free and compulsory to every child in the state in addition to so many considerations on Child care espicially Maternal,Neo-natal and postnatal services to pregnant women from conception to delivery.
In her closing speech the State Commissioner, Ministry for Women Affairs and Social development, Dr, Zahra’u Umar Muhammad said when the Bill pass into Law it would brings succor to the lives of the children in the state and thanked the Legislative Arm for review of the Bill and Government of the state as well as the Donor Partners for their concerns to the welfare of the children in the state.
