The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA, Niger State Command has recovered 27 new rifles from two suspects during routine stop and search operation in Kontogara Area of the State.
This was contained in a statement by the Director, Media and Advocacy of NDLEA, Femi Babafemi said the suspects included Danjuma Auta, 35 and Daniel Danrangi 25, explaining that both male are residence of Dirin Daji of Sakaba Area of Kebbi State.
The statement said the duo were arrested with 12 locally fabricated AK 47 rifles and 15 locally fabricated pistols, noting that the rifles were concealed in a white sack and drove on a motorcycle to an unknown destination, when they were apprehended.
The statement pointed out that Kontogara, where the weapons were seized is about 107 Km from Kagara a town in Niger State where women, children and secondary students were abducted last month.
“Preliminary investigation shows that the fabricator of the weapons reside in Kamfanin waya, not far away from Kontogara while one of the pistol is fully loaded. The suspects and the weapons will be transfer to the Nigeria Police Headquarters, Minna for further investigation and prosecution” he stated.
The statement further disclosed that Ondo Command of NDLEA operatives have raided Ita-Ipele forest, Owo LGA of the State. “During the operation six suspects namely Stephen Ikechukwu 38, Stephen Friday 32, Austin Osadebe 58, Friday Paul, 29, Adebayo Raphael 25 and
John Pius 45, were arrested.
The statement said that a total of 41 Kg of cannabis sativa and 6 kg of cannabis seeds were recovered during the operation. ” A total of 5 hectares of cannabis farm was located and destroyed” it added
