Accident: Court Orders Driver to Pay N220.9 Million Compensation for Killing 3 Siblings

A Kano State Upper Sharia Court Kofar Kudu presided over by Ibrahim Sarki Yola has ordered a faulty driver Sani Ibrahim to pay compensation of N220.9 Million for killing 3 Pedestrian siblings.

The convict was first arraigned in court sometimes in 2017. He was accused of strucking 3 Siblings to death instantly, namely Hauwa Muhd Khadija Muhd and Ibrahim Muhd all of them below 10 years.

The fatal accident occurred at Kurna Babba Layi when late Ibrahim carried his deceased sisters and the driver of the truck crushed trio to death.

Medical report showed that the victims sustained various degree of injuries which caused their death on the spot.

When he was first arraigned before the Upper Sharia Court Kano, the convict Sani Ibrahim pleaded guilty for committing the offence, he however prayed the court to temper justice with mercy which he said the offence was not intentional.

‘According to Islamic Sharia Penal Code financial Law compensation is paid to the victim or heirs of a victim in the cases of murder, bodily harm or property damage. It is an alternative punishment to qisas (equal retaliation).’

The Presiding Judge, Ibrahim Sarki Yola ordered the Driver to pay the compensation of N220.9 Million to Muhd Mai Takalma who is biological father of 3 Deceased Children.
