A total of 138 police inspectors have been promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police II (ASP II) at the Sokoto State Police Command.
The promotion of the officers came following the recommendation of the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Igbetekun after approval by the Police Service Commission (PSC).
In a statement, ASP Ahmed Rufa’i, the spokesperson of the command, said the decoration was presided over the state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Hayatu on Friday.
Mr Rufa’i added that the CP urged the newly decorated officers to re-dedicate themselves to duty and professionalism.
“He urged them to consider the new rank as a motivation and additional responsibilities. He also warned them to be disciplined, loyal and hardworking,” the statement read.
Speaking on behalf of the officers, ASP. George Idoko, “thanked the Almighty God for life and sound health to witness this memorable day.”
Mr Idoko also thanked the Acting IGP, Igebetekun, the PSC and the Sokoto CP, Hayatu for “finding them worthy of the promotion and promised to redouble their efforts in the discharge of their responsibilities.”○
