Ganduje Met with Service Chiefs on Partnership Consolidation



Kano Governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to Service Chiefs in their respective headquarters on the need to foster partnership and strengthen relationship with the Kano State Government.

After commiserating with them over the death of Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru, Governor Ganduje reassured his government commitment in further working closely with all the institutions to improve the security situation in the state.

He commended heads of Army formations and Air Force Command in the state and assured a continued support and partnership with them, with the view to making the state safer.

At the office of the Chief of Defense Staff, General Leo Irabor, he expressed his administration’s satisfaction over the good working relationship with all Army and Air Force formations in the state.

” They are doing all the needful in working hard to see that the state is highly secured. I want use this opportunity to commend them on behalf of the government and people of Kano state.”

That, according to him, makes the forest to be inhabitable for criminals like armed robbers, kidnappers, cattle-rustlers, bandits, among others.

While speaking at the office of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Major General Faruk Yahaya, said “Security of our land is everybody’s business. As we have full cooperation of all the security agencies in the state, your officers and men there, proved to us, as a government, that, they can work closely with us to improve our security system.”

Adding that, the state government is happy with the way and manner they partner with other sister agencies, ” saying there is no rivalry among our security agencies.

” We have to commend them through you. They are doing very well.”

At the office of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Isiaka Oladayo Amao, governor Ganduje urged that, “Falgore forest is now a military training ground, courtesy of the approval we got from Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari.

” When I visited and pleaded with him to approve that, so that criminals would not infiltrate, not to talk of finding a breathing space there.”

Governor urged the Chief of Air Staff, whether his office could also make use of the same forest. “We appreciate your officers and men in Kano for blending well with other sister agencies in the state. We have good security commitment in Kano and there is no in-fight between all the security agencies,” he disclosed.

The Chief of Naval Staff, Real Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo, expressed his satisfaction and delight over the visit. And assured his support and commitment towards improving the security situation.

He also commended the governor for his effort in the security system of the state. Adding that, he would give all the necessary support in that direction. Also commended the governor for the visit.

In a statement by Abba Anwar, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Kano State pointed out that the Service Chiefs commended the governor for being the first person to pay such visit to them. While assuring him for their continuous support, cooperation and synergy they all appreciated the development taking place in the state.

Chief of Air Staff, AVM Amao hinted that, “I want assure the governor that we will continue to work closely with you. We also want to see what we can do in that forest. So as to make it safer and more secured. We will see how we can come in to maximize the security of the area.”

“Kano has provided a Model in the area of synergy between security agencies. Your style is working very effectively. I am encouraged with what I see in terms of synergy among security agencies,” the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Yahaya, commended.

He further disclosed that, “We are not meeting for the first time with the governor. I was in Kano when Colonel Dominic Oneya was the Military Administrator of Kano state, I was then his ADC. While governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje was then the Commissioner of Works. I am very much familiar with the terrain in Kano.”

NBA condemns attack on Delta court by thugs




The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA , Warri Branch has condemned the attack on the Delta State High Court 4 by thugs in Warri South Local Government Area.

The NBA in a statement signed by its Chairman, Emmanuel .O. Uti and Mr. Joseph A Omonoseh, Secretary respectively expressed shock and sadness over the unprovoked attack and invasion by the thugs.

The NBA noted that the act led to the disruption of court proceedings in a suit challenging the succession to the stool of the Olu of Warri Kingdom which was ongoing peacefully.

The NBA said the hoodlums who were armed with dangerous weapons, chased away judicial staff, litigants, lawyers including a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN who was representing one of the parties and disrupted the proceedings.

The NBA condemned the act describing it as despicable and a desecration of the hallowed temple of Justice.

“The NBA Warri branch condemns in totality this unprovoked attack and barbaric behaviour by the hoodlums/thugs and therefore calls on the Inspector General of Police, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State and the Director of State Security Services to immediately set up a team of investigators to unmask the perpetrators of this reprehensible act.

“We also call on Security Operatives to immediately set in motion measures to nip in the bud this ugly trend by providing adequate security in and around the Court premises in Delta State to prevent a reoccurrence of this ugly trend.


“We advise the players in the ongoing succession tussle to sheath their swords and allow peace and the law to take its full course as we cannot afford to see our peaceful and loving Warri Kingdom engulfed by the flames of crisis.”

Police In Kaduna Warns Protesters Against Violating Due Process




Kaduna State Commission of Police Umar Muri has warned all Interest Groups who want to protest in the state to consider following due process and avoid incessant high blockade, stressing that violators will be treated according to the extant statutory laws of the land.

The statement said the Command is however, perturbed with the recent activities of some communities engaging in protest and the untoward blocking of highways with its attendant troubles for innocent commuters. emphasizing that such trend will not be tolerated and the acts will be viewed seriously according to extant laws of the land.

It added that the Command is working round the clock to ensure that normalcy is restored and would not fold it hands to be distracted in as much as protest cannot be seen as the solution to the current situation.

” The Command is therefore advising all interest groups and communities to always go through appropriate channel with their grievances as the Command’s door is always open to complaints and other security related issues from all quarters whereas insecurity is localized and the best approach to tackling it is by Police community engagement.
