Kano Consumer Protection Council Seizures Counterfeit Products Worth 1 Billion Naira.

The Acting Managing Director, Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KSCPC) Baffa Babba Dan’Agundi says operatives of the council have seizured fake and counterfeit products worth one billion naira in 3 months.

He disclosed this during Press briefing held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ) Kano State Council’s Secretariat ‘Meet the Media’.

He said fake and counterfeit items conspicated include processing food, finishing food item, drug cigarette among others.

He pointed out that the council in a single day confiscated over N500 Million Naira expired cigarettes in the state.

” Cigarette ordinarily kills but consider taking expired one. It is really sad allowing expired products into our society.”

Baffa Babba stated that 9 persons have been arrested in connection to expired and counterfeit products within the period in review noting that the council has secured arrest warrant from court against 9 persons who evaded arrest.

He also said 2 Persons were convicted by court an many others offered for plea bargain as a means of attitudinal Corrections.

The Acting Managing Director decried how restaurants workers in the state don’t consider their health status as significance.

He explained that in just 3 restaurants the council were able to discovered 6 persons with hepatitis B disease which is communicable in nature.

He vowed to shut down any restaurant found a worker whichout health certificate from recognize medical institution.

He advised public to always check NAFDAC Registration Number of consumable items before use.

” KSCP will signed a MoU with NAFDAC with the view to sanitized society.

He urged Journalists to always cross check their fact before publishing or going on air.

22-year-old man to die by hanging for robbery

A 22-year Kehinde Olajide has been sentenced to death by hanging for armed robbery in Ekiti State.

A High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti on Thursday sentenced Kehinde for involvement in robberies.

He was docked for arming himself with dangerous weapons to rob Dayo Folorunsho, Saka Yusuf, Adeoye Oluwatosin, Adeola Oluwatobi, Olayemi Aremu, Hambali Ojo and Ayodele Oluwafemi of their belongings.

Justice Lekan Ogunmoye who pronounced the judgement, said that “the prosecution had proved ingredients of armed robbery against the convict without any reasonable doubt

Ogunmoye said, “He is hereby sentenced to death by hanging until he is dead. May God almighty have mercy upon his soul”.

The convict and others who were involved in the alleged robbery were charged with nine count charges bordering on conspiracy, unlawful possession of firearms and robbery.

The three other men involved in the robbery include, Kareem Azeez (24), Bamisile Lateef (28) and Adebayo Basiru (25).

The Judge, however, acquitted them for lack of proof of the offence they were charged for.

Census: Kano Government to count Fulani Herders, Household owners

Kano State Government said it will create a system to count Fulani Herdsmen and household owners in the state.

Director General Bureau of Statistic, Baballe Ammani stated this in an interview with Correspondent, Umar Idris Shuaibu.

Ammani said it’s imperative to tackle the security challenges facing Northern part of the country, and to improve means of livelihood.

Earlier on, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje built Ruga Settlement for Fulani Herdsmen purposely to bring an end to the traditional system of going to the southern part of this country, which comes with challenges.

“You see Fulani community in Kano tried well to gather themselves, bury their particular differences to confront His Excellency Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, to over look what he can do to improves the system in which they are operating, help their children to attain highest level in life as every Nigerian.

“He agreed and ordered us to conduct the census, that will give chance for Government to know actually what they can to assist their plight”, Baballe Ammani said.

The Director General Bureau of Statistic also noted that census of household will be conducted too, to know the actual number of Kano residents especially when it comes to developmental projects.

“You know targeting social amenities to a community is not easy if you didn’t predict the number of populace, with this we’ll achieve more in the remaining years we have”, Ammani stated.
